It was quite dark inside the dome but we were all very brave and our teacher was very proud of our fantastic listening!

We had a great time visiting Mini Meadows this term. We were able to feed and touch lots of animals, we had already learnt lots about these animals in our classroom. We all really enjoyed our day out!

Clay Chicks

We got a bit messy this week when we used the clay to model our own version of the chicks. We had to use the tools to create the fluffy effect on the chick, take a look at our clay chicks below!

We have been very lucky to have had some special visitors this week, 11 fluffy chicks! They came to us in their eggs and all of them have hatched now! We have been talking about the life cycle of a hen and we know lots about hens now and how to look after chicks! Take a look at some of the photos below!

The children are making amazing progress with their reading! Please keep reading at home with them and don't forget to write in the reading record. Some children have already filled up their reading trees for 3 terms which means they will get to choose a book from the treasure chest!

We will be learning all about Spring and looking at lots of books about farms, we have a visit to the farm later on in the term! This term our Jigsaw PSHE topic is Goals and Dreams! This week we were talking about challenges and how when we are faced with one it is important that we give it a good go, so we decided to challenge ourselves and build a tower with cards! It was very tricky but we stayed calm and kept on having a good go!

Welcome Back!

I hope you have all had a lovely break! We have had a very busy first week back at school with lots of activities! This week we have put on our detective hats and we have been searching for diagraphs (ch, sh, ng etc.) in words! We have also been practising our cuttings skills and building lots of things with our construction blocks!

Derngate Trip

The children had a magical time at the Derngate. You could tell this by just how quiet they were during the performance. They were totally awe struck by the puppets and the story. The smiles on their faces was lovely to see and the excitement of going on a coach too all added to their fun. The children were complimented on their behaviour by the Derngate staff who couldn’t get over how polite and well behaved they were throughout the time they were there.

Alien Visit

Wow! We had a very special visit this week from an alien! We came into our classroom to find some slimey green footprints leading to a crashed space ship! In the spaceship was a letter from an alien named Zog, he wanted to know what we looked like as he had never seen a human before! We have been working really hard all week to write our letters back to him!

Please fill in the reading record as often as you can and check it often to see the teacher comments from reading in school. Don't forget to date the reading tree each time you read at home! When your child has three reading tree certificates they will receive a book of their choice as a reward for their excellent reading at home!
