Spring term : The Romans
Maths: Roman numerals/ fractions
Literacy: This term, we shall be using Romans on the Rampage as our feature text! Creating a day in the life of a soldier in the form of a diary entry - linking with our history topic "the Romans." Later in the term we will be looking at real life historical artefacts and using them as a focus for our writing.
Science: Magnets and forces, and light.
Art: In our art sessions we will be looking at the light spectrum and how artists use light to affect their paintings, colour mixing and using paints as our main medium.
ICT: Children will continue using a variety of programmes on the iPads, such as Scratch and Times table Rock stars. We will also be looking at green screen recordings.
History: This term we will be looking at the Romans. Organising timelines, looking at the invasion of Britain, the influence the Romans left behind and their way of living.
Music: Children will be following the Music express scheme of work.
PE: Ball skills and dance
Our school has been studying World War One in the run up to Armistice Day. The children have looked at the causes of the war and the effects it had on the people who foght in it, as well on the widere impact it had on people at home. Today everyone listened carefully to some readings and a pome in a special assembly to mark two minutes silence. The wreaths of poppies they had made were laid in a procession and showed the care and respect the pupils have for those who were affected by war.
Autumn term : The Stone Age
Maths: Place value/ Addition and Subtraction.
Literacy: Instructional texts, using "How to wash a Woolly Mammoth" as the focus, followed by writing an adventure story, with historical features based on the book "The Stone Age boy".
Science: Healthy lifestyles
Art: We are lucky to have resident artist Piper for the first half term, who will be looking at developing shading skills in particular those concerning shadows.
ICT: Children will be using a variety of programmes on the iPads, such as Scratch and Times table Rock stars.
History: This term we will be looking at the Stone Age. Organising timelines, looking at all three era's and quashing those misconceptions, such as "all Stone Age people lived in caves!"
Music: The children will be learning the recorder, looking at and reading sheet music and following the Music express scheme of work.
PE: Gymnastics and Football/Hockey
